Rachel Meyer is an American writer and yoga teacher living in Switzerland. She draws from her roots in musical theater, theology, and the arts to teach a wholehearted, vigorous vinyasa. Rachel has taught in premier studios throughout San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; and Boston, MA. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Yoga Journal, Yoga International, On Being, Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, HuffPost, and more.
Rachel's classes are rich in yoga philosophy, sweaty with hard work, and down-to-earth in tone. She hopes you'll laugh as much as you sweat, and walk out feeling a little stronger, a little softer, and a lot more you.
We'll gather in Athens the afternoon of the 12th for a guided walk to take in highlights of the city, have a typical Greek dinner together, then spend the night at our wonderful central hotel.
The next morning, you'll have time to visit the Acropolis and its museum, and see the changing of the guards before we transfer to Piraeus for our evening ferry to Amorgos.
We'll get to spend six nights here at our 5* Hotel & Spa, for our yoga program. Every room has a private balcony overlooking the harbor, and we have free use of the hotel's indoor and outdoor salt-water pools, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gym.
Look forward to classes by Rachel, guided village and seaside strolls, and a relaxing program of activities including the Monastery and Herbal Distillery.
This Monastery, resting on the side of a cliff, was built early in the second millennium to protect a religious icon, and is still an operating monastery today with three monks still in residence.
It's an awe-inspiring place to visit, for it's location, beauty, and energy. It's 300 "donkey" steps to get up there, and worth every one.
A trip to the nearby village of Langada to visit Vangelis & Eleni's distillery. We learn how the island's abundance of herbs are cultivated and distilled to create essential oils, tonics, tea, creams and other products, both for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. Vangelis is a master at his craft, and a healer. There is so much we learn from him.
